Libano, pennacchi di fumo nel cielo di Beirut dopo gli attacchi israeliani

Pennacchi di fumo si innalzano nel cielo di Beirut e i suoi sobborghi in mattinata, dopo che l'area è stata colpita nella notte da pesanti attacchi aerei israeliani. Gli attacchi contro obiettivi di Hezbollah da parte di jet da combattimento sono continuati fino alle prime ore di questa mattina, dopo che l'esercito ha detto ai residenti di evacuare alcuni edifici presi di mira. Qualche ora prima degli attacchi, il Primo Ministro Benjamin Netanyahu si è rivolto alle Nazioni Unite, giurando che la campagna israeliana contro Hezbollah sarebbe continuata e affievolendo così ulteriormente le speranze di un cessate il fuoco sostenuto a livello internazionale. Netanyahu ha interrotto bruscamente la sua visita negli Stati Uniti ed è tornato in Israele. Secondo il ministero della Sanità libanese, da quando il conflitto si è inasprito negli ultimi giorni, in Libano sono state uccise più di 720 persone.
