Algeria, si vota per presidenziali: Tebboune verso la riconferma

Gli algerini sabato sono chiamati alle urne per eleggere il presidente, cinque anni dopo che le proteste pro-democrazia hanno spinto i militari a spodestare il precedente capo di stato Abdelaziz Bouteflika dopo due decenni al potere. Da quando le elezioni sono state fissate a marzo, in anticipo rispetto alle previsioni, non c'è stata molta suspense. L'attuale presidente Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sostenuto dai militari, è dato come il chiaro favorito rispetto ai due sfidanti in corsa: un islamista e un esponente della sinistra. Per consolidare la sua legittimità sia all'interno che nei confronti degli alleati spera che i 24 milioni di elettori del Paese partecipino alle elezioni di oggi in misura maggiore rispetto a quelle precedenti, quando solo il 39,9% si presentò alle urne.
