Appello di Papa Francesco “Pace per le nazioni e anche per il creato”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Papa Francesco è arrivato a Vanimo, la “periferia della periferia”, sulla costa nordoccidentale della Papua Nuova Guinea, dove ha incontrato i fedeli della diocesi nella spianata antistante le Cattedrale. Nella cittadina vivono circa 11 mila persone, di cui alcune in villaggi in giungle impenetrabili. Qui operano da decenni dei missionari argentini, tra cui alcuni amici di Papa Francesco, che gli hanno fatto scoprire questa realtà. Il Pontefice porta con sè valigie di cibo, medicinali, giocattoli e beni di prima necessità.Prima di recarsi a Vanimo, all'Angelus, al termine della messa celebrata allo stadio di Port Moresby, uno degli ultimi eventi della visita in Papua Nuova Guinea, aveva lanciato un nuovo appello per la pace: “Da questa terra benedetta dal Creatore, vorrei insieme a voi invocare, per intercessione di Maria Santissima, il dono della pace per tutti i popoli. In particolare, lo chiedo per questa grande regione del mondo tra Asia, Oceania e Oceano Pacifico. Pace, pace per le Nazioni e anche per il creato”. “No al riarmo e allo sfruttamento della casa comune!
