L'uragano Ernesto è stato declassato a tempesta tropicale dopo essersi abbattuto sul piccolo territorio britannico delle Bermuda. I residenti dell'arcipelago hanno cercato riparo dai violentissimi venti a 140 chilometri orari e dalla forte pioggia. Il National Hurricane Center degli Stati Uniti ha avvertito di forti venti, pericolose tempeste e significative inondazioni costiere. L'azienda elettrica delle Bermuda BELCO ha riferito che sabato pomeriggio più di 26.000 clienti erano senza elettricità. Il Bermuda Weather Service ha dichiarato sabato 17 agosto che l'allarme uragano è rimasto in vigore. Ernesto si sta dirigendo verso nord-nordest a una velocità di circa 15 chilometri orari.
