"Blackout totale: tv, radio e cellulari ko". Tempesta solare, allarme imminente: quando può saltare tutto

Il rischio di un blackout di televisioni, radio e cellulari è più concreto di quanto si immagini. E a causarlo potrebbe essere una tempesta solare. A lanciare l'allarme è il Solar Dynamics Observatory della Nasa. La scorsa domenica l'osservatorio americano ha infatti rilevato un'eruzione del plasma della superficie solare. Al momento non c'è ancora certezza sulla data dell'inizio del fenomeno. Ma da venerdì 26 luglio potrebbero arrivare nuove previsioni. Come spiegano gli scienziati, la tempesta solare è causata dall'attività del Sole. Nello specifico dalle espulsioni di massa coronale e dai brillamenti, che producono delle particelle che, con rapidità, possono raggiungere la Terra e interagire con il suo campo magnetico. Tutto ciò può causare blackout elettrici. Le tempeste infatti possono disturbare le comunicazioni satellitari e radio, influenzando così le operazioni marittime e aeree. Nessun apparecchio è al sicuro: sistemi gps, televisioni e cellulari che utilizzano tecnologie satellitari sono ad alto rischio. "Il Sole è nel massimo della sua attività rispetto agli ultimi 11 anni: in questi mesi è particolarmente attivo e in un ciclo più potente di quelli precedenti - ha spiegato alla Stampa il divulgatore scientifico Piero Biancucci -. Questi fenomeni sono molto frequenti e anche abbastanza pericolosi. Il rischio per noi quaggiù - ha poi aggiunto - è che vengano danneggiate delle strutture fondamentali per la sopravvivenza".
