Blinken: le proteste nei campus universitari "parte della democrazia"

Roma, 26 apr. (askanews) - Le proteste universitarie di questi giorni sono un segno della forza della democrazia negli Stati Uniti: lo dice il segretario di Stato Antony Blinken in conferenza stampa da Pechino. Tuttavia, aggiunge Blinken, la guerra sarebbe già finita se Hamas si fosse arreso, e colpisce il silenzio su Hamas nelle proteste, "è come se non fosse neanche parte della storia". "Nel nostro paese, è un segno di democrazia che i cittadini facciano sentire le loro opinioni, preoccupazioni, la loro rabbia in qualunque momento. Credo che rifletta la forza del paese, la forza della democrazia. Ma come ho già detto (la guerra a Gaza) potrebbe finire domani. Poteva finire ieri, o mesi fa, se Hamas avesse deposto le armi avesse smesso di nascondersi dietro ai civili, rilasciato gli ostaggi, e se si fosse arreso, ma naturalmente ha scelto di non farlo. E si fa notare anche il silenzio su Hamas (nelle università); è come se non fosse neanche parte della storia", ha detto Blinken.
