Caraibi, arriva l'uragano Beryl: migliaia di evacuati

L'uragano Beryl si sta abbattendo sui Caraibi sudorientali con una potente tempesta di categoria 4, dopo essere diventata la prima tempesta di tale forza a formarsi nell'Atlantico, alimentata da acque calde da record. L'allerta uragano è in vigore per Barbados, Grenada, Santa Lucia, Tobago e Saint Vincent e Grenadine, mentre migliaia di persone hanno trovato rifugio in case e in luoghi pubblici. "Sarà terribile", ha dichiarato Ralph Gonsalves, primo ministro di St. Vincent e Grenadine, in vista dell'arrivo della tempesta, esortando la popolazione a rimanere in casa "e ad aspettare questo mostro". Lunedì mattina Beryl si trovava a 100 chilometri a est di Grenada, con venti massimi sostenuti di 215 chilometri all'ora, e si muoveva verso ovest-nord-ovest a 31 km/h.
