D-Day: re Carlo, 'gratitudine inesauribile e ammirazione eterna'

Parigi, 6 giu. (Adnkronos) - "È con il più profondo senso di gratitudine che ricordiamo tutti coloro che hanno servito in quel momento critico". Lo ha detto re Carlo elogiando i veterani del D-Day durante l'evento commemorativo al Normandy Memorial, a Ver-sur-Mer, in Francia, in occasione dell'80° anniversario dello sbarco. Il sovrano britannico ha parlato in inglese e francese. Ha ricordato la "straordinaria generazione in tempo di guerra" e ha detto che dobbiamo "ricordare le lezioni che ci arrivano ancora e ancora. La nostra gratitudine è inesauribile e la nostra ammirazione eterna". Dopo il suo discorso, re Carlo ha deposto corone di fiori assieme al presidente francese Emmanuel Macron, al primo ministro britannico Rishi Sunak, al capo di stato maggiore della difesa britannico e al presidente nazionale della Royal British Legion.
