Daily Crown: Carlo sospenderà cure per cancro durante visita in Australia e Samoa

Londra, 7 ott. (Adnkronos) - I medici hanno concesso a re Carlo di sospendere la terapia contro il cancro per poter volare in Australia la prossima settimana per una visita reale. Il monarca partirà il 18 ottobre, toccando Sydney e Canberra, per poi proseguire per una visita di Stato a Samoa, nel Pacifico meridionale, dove parteciperà al Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm). Secondo quanto appreso dal Daily Mail, Sua Maestà continuerà la terapia in corso contro il cancro fino al momento della partenza, per interromperla durante il suo soggiorno all'estero. Il re riprenderà il ciclo di cure non appena tornerà nel Regno Unito. Charles, 75 anni, a cui è stata diagnosticata una forma tumorale a febbraio in seguito a un intervento chirurgico alla prostata, è da allora sottoposto a cure settimanali. La notizia che il re faccia un viaggio così lontano e lasci passare 11 giorni tra un trattamento e quello successivo - scrive il giornale britannico - è una buona notizia per la sua salute e sottolinea anche il suo impegno nel rispettare i doveri reali che ha dimostrato fin dalla diagnosi. Il re e sua moglie, la regina Camilla, hanno un programma fitto di impegni, che comprenderanno fino a dieci appuntamenti al giorno durante la loro visita reale, e avranno solo un giorno di riposo. Fonti sottolineano, tuttavia, che il loro programma è stato organizzato in stretta consultazione con i medici che monitoreranno quotidianamente la salute di Carlo. Al suo seguito ci sarà, come sempre, un medico, prassi standard per re quando è all'estero. Il viaggio tanto atteso è estremamente significativo in quanto è la sua prima visita a un reame, di cui è capo di Stato da quando è diventato re, e il suo primo Chogm come capo del Commonwealth.
