Washington DC, 10 lug. (askanews) - Il presidente Usa Joe Biden e il Segretario generale della Nato Jens Stoltenberg al centro della scena, hanno stretto la mano ai leader della Nato, 31 in totale, individualmente per il summit di Wasinghton che festeggia i 75 anni dell'Alleanza. Tra gli altri leader, la novità del summit Keir Starmer, neoeletto premier britannico oltre al presidente francese Emmanuel Macron, giunto per ultimo all'evento a causa delle questioni politiche interne nel suo Paese. Non ci sono state dichiarazioni, ma Biden ha parlato brevemente ad alcuni dei leader mentre stringeva loro la mano. Quando è stato il turno di Giorgia Meloni, il capo di stato Usa mostrato affetto per il presidente del Consiglio italiano, baciandola sulle guance. Alla fine della foto di famiglia una giornalista ha cercato di mettere in imbarazzo il presidente americano con una domanda sul sostegno alla prossima corsa alla Casa bianca ma Biden non ha risposto verbalmente alla domanda gridata, mentre gli altri leader si apprestavano a uscire. Un episodio che denota un certo accanimento relativo non tanto a Biden-presidente, ma piuttosto a Biden-candidato alle prossime presidenziali.
