Gaza, offensiva su Rafah. Riaperto il valico di Kerem Shalom

Roma, 8 mag. (askanews) - Palestinesi cercano sopravvissuti e soccorrono i feriti da sotto le macerie di un edificio colpito da un attacco aereo israeliano a Rafah, nel Sud della Striscia di Gaza. La scorsa settimana gli Stati Uniti hanno sospeso una spedizione di bombe a Israele per timore che invadesse la città meridionale con l'operazione di terra più volte annunciata, ha riferito un funzionario dell'amministrazione Usa: è la prima volta nel conflitto scoppiato il 7 ottobre scorso che il presidente Joe Biden ha ridotto gli aiuti militari all'alleato. Washington avrebbe bloccato il carico di 1.800 bombe da 907 kg e 1.700 bombe da 226 kg, secondo il funzionario. "Non vogliamo vedere una grande operazione a Rafah. Vogliamo vedere un piano, un piano completo su come Israele intende proteggere il milione e mezzo di civili che attualmente cercano rifugio a Rafah" ha dichiarato l'addetta stampa della Casa Bianca, Karine Jean-Pierre. Si critica anche la chiusura, definita "inaccettabile" del valico di Rafah con l'Egitto. Intanto Israele, ha fatto sapere che è stato riaperto il valico di Kerem Shalom verso Gaza, uno snodo chiave per l'ingresso degli aiuti umanitari, rimasto chiuso per due giorni dopo che un attacco missilistico di Hamas ha ucciso quattro soldati israeliani. Secondo i media egiziani, inoltre, Israele e Hamas sono disponibili per tornare al tavolo delle trattative per una tregua e un accordo sugli ostaggi.
