Antonio Caprarica non usa giri di parole. Il giornalista, opinionista e storico esperto della Royal Family, in un'intervista a Oggi parla di ciò che sta accadendo a Londra con le voci sulla salute di Kate Middleton che si rincorrono tra conferme e smentite. La principessa ha annunciato qualche mese fa la sua battaglia contro il cancro. Una battaglia dura che sta combattendo al riparo dai flash di tv e fotografi. Ma Caprarica prova a fare il punto sulla malattia e a quanto pare le notizie che arrivano da Londra non sono affatto confortanti: "Da quello che so io, la situazione è effettivamente allarmante. La malattia in realtà potrebbe essere stata individuata a uno stadio un po' più avanzato di quanto si è lasciato intendere. È un tema che oggi agita molto i circoli reali vicini alla famiglia. Sono cinque mesi che Kate non compare in pubblico, non è mai successo prima in epoca moderna. E a Londra ci si chiede, con sempre più insistenza, se non sia il caso di favorire il ritorno di Harry". Poi Caprarica parla anche di Meghan Markle e del rapporto tra Harry e Re Carlo, la spina nel fianco della Corona: "La rottura con il figlio è un danno sostanziale per la Corona. Se il sovrano non riesce a tenere unita la famiglia, come può tenere unito il Paese? La situazione è complicata. Harry voleva vedere Carlo, ma non Camilla. E la regina non voleva incontrarlo. Cosi come William e Kate. Sono tutti offesi per gli insulti ricevuti e le cattiverie. Ma se la necessità lo imponesse, anche William e Camilla, i più refrattari, dovrebbero fare finta di niente. Harry accetterebbe? Io penso di si. Il problema è Meghan. Per lei la Gran Bretagna è morta, non vuole metterci piede. E qui torniamo al punto di partenza: l'estrema debolezza dell'istituzione monarchica".
