Landazabal (Gsk): "In Italia investimenti per 800 mln nel 2020-2025"

Roma, 30 mag. (Adnkronos Salute) - "L'Italia è storicamente uno dei poli strategici di ricerca e produzione dei farmaci e dei vaccini di Gsk. E' rilevante l'impegno quinquennale di Gsk negli investimenti, che vede nel periodo 2020-2025 un totale previsto di 800 milioni di euro, di cui il 59% destinato ai vaccini e il 41% ai farmaci, mentre alla sola ricerca va il 14% del totale". Lo ha detto all'Adnkronos Salute Fabio Landazabal, presidente e Ad Gsk Italia, a margine di un convegno promosso da Gsk - oggi e domani a Roma (Auditorium della Tecnica) - con oltre 200 pneumologi italiani riuniti per fare il punto sulle nuove terapie a disposizione per le patologie respiratorie, prime fra tutte l'asma che colpisce il 4-8% della popolazione generale, e la Bpco che interessa il 10-11% degli italiani, ma con punte fino al 15-20% tra gli over 65. "In Italia - sottolinea - siamo presenti con impianti globali di manifattura biotecnologica per la prevenzione e per la messa a punto di terapie avanzate. Abbiamo inoltre un centro di ricerca unico al mondo per i vaccini e per la salute One Health, proprio per contribuire al benessere globale. Tutto questo impegno ci permette di attrarre investimenti pari a 800 milioni, bilanciati tra prevenzione e terapia. Quindi l'Italia è una posizione unica e siamo molto orgogliosi di essere in questo Paese".
