Gli opposti si attraggono, dicono. Ma è davvero così? Beh, per il re Carlo e Camilla Parker Bowles non sembra valere la famosa regola non scritta visto quanto riferito dall'arredatrice Annabel Eliot. La donna descrive gli inquilini di Buckingham Palace come "poli opposti", motivo per cui i due avrebbero molte accese "discussioni" in famiglia, come ad esempio sulla temperatura che dovrebbe esserci all'interno del loro focolare domestico. E se vi viene da sorridere nel leggere le motivazioni che spingono i due a bisticciare, aspettate di leggere il resto: Camilla ama il caldo, il tepore accogliente di un casa ben riscaldata. Carlo, invece, ama l'aria fresca, anche d'inverno. E se è vero che la regina Camilla "vince su quasi tutte le altre cose", per quanto riguarda le finestre, "l'ha quasi sempre vinta re Carlo". "Il re non ama restare in casa per troppo tempo e tiene sempre le finestre spalancate - aveva raccontato al Sun l'ex segretario alle comunicazioni del monarca, Julian Payne. Un incontro a Birkhall, la sua casa nelle Highlands, nel bel mezzo dell'inverno, non è adatto ai deboli di cuore. Ricordo più di un'occasione in cui ho pensato di essermi effettivamente congelato, mentre cercavo di scrivere con una mano che non riuscivo più a sentire".
