L'Onu adotta il "Patto per il futuro", Guterres: riforma necessaria

New York, 23 set. (askanews) - L'Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite ha adottato a New York il "Patto per il futuro", che il Segretario generale dell'Onu Antonio Guterres ha descritto come un accordo storico che rappresenta un "passo avanti verso un multilateralismo più efficace, inclusivo e interconnesso". Il patto, volto ad affrontare le grandi sfide del XXI secolo, dai conflitti ai cambiamenti climatici e ai diritti umani, nonostante le obiezioni dell'ultimo minuto di un gruppo di Paesi guidati dalla Russia, è stato adottato senza votazione all'inizio del Summit of the Future. Arriva dopo circa nove mesi di negoziati. "Il nostro mondo sta andando fuori strada - ha detto Guterres -abbiamo bisogno di decisioni difficili per tornare in carreggiata".
