L'uragano Helene sulla Florida, le autorità: estremamente pericoloso

Roma, 27 set. (askanews) - Immagini da Tallahassee, Florida, colpita da fortissime piogge per l'arrivo dell'uragano Helene che si è rafforzato dopo il passaggio sul Golfo del Messico. Le autorità hanno avvertito la popolazione del rischio di condizioni "insostenibili" e hanno parlato di situazione "potenzialmente catastrofica". Decine di migliaia di persone sono rimaste senza corrente e le strade sono già allagate. Helene, in rapida evoluzione, si è rafforzato fino a diventare un uragano di categoria 4 giudicato "estremamente pericoloso", ha dichiarato il National Hurricane Center (NHC) statunitense. Poi però toccando terra è stato declassato. Il bilancio provvisorio è di almeno 3 morti. Ha raggiunto le 130 miglia (215 chilometri) all'ora mentre si muoveva sulle acque calde del Golfo verso l'area di Big Bend, a sud di Tallahassee. Gli aeroporti di Tampa e Tallahassee sono stati chiusi e parti di St Petersburg, il centro di Tampa, Sarasota, Treasure Island e altre città della costa occidentale della Florida sono già state allagate. Circa 525.000 case e aziende sono rimaste senza corrente.
