Martelli (Umberto I): "In 4 anni rivoluzione terapie per linfoma non-Hodgkin"

Roma, 20 giu. (Adnkronos Salute) - "Negli ultimi quattro anni abbiamo avuto una rivoluzione nel trattamento del linfoma non-Hodgkin, in particolare nei linfomi ricaduti e recidivi, laddove il vecchio trattamento chemioterapico o trapiantologico dava scarsissimi risultati. Questi nuovi farmaci sono immunoterapie, con i quali in particolare si mira a riattivare i linfociti T del paziente stesso, portandoli a ingegnerizzare in determinati laboratori e poi a rinfonderli, oppure gli anticorpi cosidetti bispecifici, che mirano ad attivare gli stessi linfociti del paziente stesso con un indirizzo su un antigene particolare che hanno le cellule tumorali". Lo ha detto all'Adnkronos Salute Maurizio Martelli, professore di Ematologia Università degli Studi Sapienza di Roma e direttore Uoc Ematologia Aou Policlinico Umberto I di Roma in occasione della conferenza per i 55 anni di Ail, oggi a Roma. "Con questi trattamenti noi abbiamo ottenuto dei risultati superiori a quelli che ottenevamo con la vecchia chemioterapia e con una migliore qualità di vita del paziente. Lei immagini una sola infusione o un'infusione di un anticorpo rispetto alla chemioterapia, al trapianto di midollo, al ricovero e alla caduta di capelli, è molto più importante" conclude.
