Mattarella: vocazione Cern è costruire pace attraverso scienza

Roma, 1 ott. (askanews) - "Il Centro Europeo per la Ricerca Nucleare è sempre stato testimonianza della volontà di costruire e di un futuro comune, non compatibile con chi antepone la forza delle armi al dialogo e alle ragioni del diritto. Costruire la pace attraverso la scienza, questa la vocazione del Cern, punto di riferimento mondiale nella ricerca sulle particelle elementari". Lo ha sottolineato il presidente della Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella, intervenendo a Ginevra alla cerimonia per il 70esimo anniversario di fondazione del Cern. Il Cern fin dalla sua fondazione, "ha continuato ad accentuare questa sua caratteristica di luogo di incontro, di scambio e di crescita per scienziati e ricercatori provenienti da ogni parte del mondo, che qui vengono a studiare, a formarsi, nella consapevolezza che la cooperazione è arricchimento reciproco", ha aggiunto il capo dello Stato, per il quale il Cern è non solo un "motore di progresso scientifico" ma anche "esempio di quanto il linguaggio universale della scienza significhi apertura, superamento delle barriere".
