Critiche che pesano, soprattutto guardando da chi arrivano. Al centro della polemica c'è l'abbigliamento della duchessa del Sussex, Meghan Markle, durante la sua visita in Nigeria: troppo audace secondo i più critici. Fra questi, c'è anche la first lady nigeriana Oluremi Tinubu, moglie del Presidente Bola Tinubu. Eccessivamente sconveniente perché mostrava troppe nudità. È quanto riportato dal quotidiano inglese The Sun, in merito alla posizione assunta dalla compagna del premier del Paese africano. Secondo lei, le donne nigeriane "non vogliono imitare e cercare di emulare le star del cinema americano con la loro nudità". Ma non è tutto. Oluremi ci è andata giù ancora più duro contro la principessa inglese, arrivata in Nigeria insieme al marito Harry per promuovere gli Invictus Games. "Il messaggio qui è che dobbiamo salvare i nostri figli. Osserviamo il modo in cui si vestono. Non avremo un Met Gala. La nudità è ovunque e gli uomini sono ben vestiti. Quindi dobbiamo fare qualcosa. Dire loro che non accettiamo la nudità nella nostra cultura. Non è bello. Non è affatto bello". A suscitare tanto scandalo è stato l'abito color pesca, con tanto di strascico, indossato durante la visita alla Wuse Lightway Academy, una scuola sostenuta dalla fondazione Archewell Foundation creata insieme al marito.
