Mo: capo esercito egiziano ispeziona situazione sicurezza al confine con Gaza

Il Cairo, 5 set. (Adnkronos) - Il capo di stato maggiore dell'esercito egiziano, tenente generale Ahmed Fathy Khalifa, ha effettuato una visita a sorpresa al confine con la Striscia di Gaza per verificare la situazione della sicurezza. Lo ha riferito la televisione di Stato egiziana, citando il portavoce dell'esercito. L'ispezione segue la richiesta del primo ministro israeliano Benjamin Netanyahu di una presenza israeliana permanente lungo il corridoio Philadelphi, al confine, sostenendo che si tratta di un passo necessario per garantire che Hamas non possa riarmarsi e ripristinare il proprio controllo dopo la fine della guerra con Israele. Il Cairo si è opposto fermamente a qualsiasi forma di controllo da parte di Israele sul confine e ha protestato, affermando che, definire il corridoio Philadelphi come zona militare, violerebbe l'accordo di pace tra i due Paesi del 1978.
