Zvonimir Boban a gamba tesa contro Paulo Fonseca. Il Milan, dopo aver perso all'esordio a San Siro contro il Liverpool, ha fallito anche il secondo appuntamento in Champions League. Di fronte aveva il Bayer Leverkusen campione di Germania, che si è portato a casa il match grazie a una rete di Victor Boniface. Ma, secondo il tecnico rossonero, il Diavolo avrebbe disputato la miglior partita della sua gestione. “E' vero che non siamo riusciti a vincere, ma è la partita che mi è piaciuta di più da quando sono qui – ha affermato a caldo il tecnico portoghese ai microfoni di Sky Sport -. Abbiamo creato tantissimo, ma non siamo riusciti a concretizzare le occasioni avute. Siamo tristi e delusi, ma dobbiamo essere anche orgogliosi di quanto fatto, del coraggio che abbiamo dimostrato e valutare con equilibrio la prestazione nel suo complesso”. Un giudizio che non è passato inosservato. Soprattutto dalle parti di Sky Sport, dove in studio era presente l'ex leggenda della Croazia. “Non penso sia stata la miglior partita del Milan – ha replicato Boban – per un'ora il match di stasera è stato dominato, non dico triturati, dal Bayer Leverkusen di Alonso, il Milan non ha di fatto giocato. Se perdi - ha poi aggiunto - non può essere certo una partita fenomenale”.
