Papa Francesco riceve il presidente di Singapore in Vaticano

Papa Francesco ha ricevuto in Vaticano il presidente di Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a poco più di due mesi dal viaggio del pontefice in Asia e Oceania. Bergoglio ha donato al presidente Shanmugaratnam una fusione in bronzo raffigurante due mani che si stringono, sullo sfondo il colonnato di San Pietro, una donna con un bambino e una nave di migranti e la scritta 'Riempiamoci le mani di altre mani', messaggio di quest'anno per la pace, e il libro sulla 'Statio Orbis' del 2020, l'invocazione del papa per la guarigione del mondo dal coronavirus. Bergoglio ha ricevuto dal presidente di Singapore un'opera in legno dipinto dell'artista Arthur P.Y. Ting. Dal 2 al 13 settembre Papa Francesco visiterà l'Indonesia, Timor Est, Papua Nuova Guinea e Singapore, nel viaggio più lungo del suo pontificato che metterà alla prova la sua salute, resistenza e mobilità. Il pontefice, 87 anni, visiterà Giakarta, Indonesia; Port Moresby e Vanimo, Papua Nuova Guinea; Dili, Timor Est; e Singapore. Ulteriori dettagli saranno annunciati in seguito. La salute di Francesco è diventata fonte di crescente preoccupazione e speculazione, anche se il pontefice è in grado di portare avanti un rigoroso programma di incontri in Vaticano e persino di escursioni nelle parrocchie locali.
