Perù: morto ex presidente Alberto Fujimori, aveva 86 anni

Lima, 12 set. (Adnkronos) - L'ex presidente peruviano Alberto Fujimori è morto all'età di 86 anni. A darne notizia, la figlia Keiko Fujimori in un post su X firmato anche dai suoi fratelli Hiro, Sachie e Kenji, nel quale informa che il padre è deceduto "dopo una lunga battaglia contro il cancro". Figlio di migranti giapponesi, Fujimori è stato presidente del Perù dal 1990 al 2000. Durante il suo mandato ha fatto sì che le forze di sicurezza reprimessero rigorosamente le forze di sinistra e presumibilmente sovversive e il parlamento fosse privato del potere. All'epoca lo Stato si sentiva minacciato dall'organizzazione terroristica maoista Sendero Luminoso. Inoltre, decine di migliaia di donne indigene sono state sterilizzate con la forza per ridurre il numero dei figli. Erano visti come un ostacolo allo sviluppo. Fujimori è stato dichiarato colpevole nel 2009 di responsabilità congiunta per 25 omicidi e due rapimenti durante il suo governo. È stato anche giudicato colpevole di diversi casi di corruzione. È stato condannato a 25 anni di prigione. Nel 2017, l'allora presidente Pedro Pablo Kuczynski ha graziato l'ex capo di Stato per motivi umanitari a causa delle sue cattive condizioni di salute. Alla fine è stato rilasciato dalla prigione di Barbadillo vicino alla capitale Lima nel 2023.
