Ragno violino, "il veleno non è letale": ecco cosa ti può uccidere

Il morso del ragno violino? No, ad essere letale in realtà sarebbe un batterio. La paura per questo insetto è tornata dopo che un ragazzo di 23 anni è morto a seguito di una puntura mentre faceva giardinaggio a Lecce. Ad aver avuto una esperienza simile, con un finale diverso, è stato Francesco Menichetti, primario e professore di infettivologia all'università di Pisa, oggi in pensione. "Il ragno violino mi ha morso all'avambraccio, nonostante la camicia a maniche lunghe - ha raccontato a Repubblica -. Lì per lì sembrava una banale puntura d'insetto, ma dopo qualche minuto il prurito è diventato più intenso. Attorno alla puntura si è formato un alone nerastro che indicava la necrosi: la morte dei tessuti cutanei attorno al morso. Allora ho deciso di telefonare a un collega medico". L'episodio risale a quattro anni fa ed è accaduto a Seravezza, in provincia di Lucca. "Ho dovuto medicare la ferita per un mese, ma tutto si è concluso con una piccola cicatrice". Il collega medico gli aveva consigliato di mettere del cortisone e di disinfettare. "A volte c'è bisogno di un intervento di chirurgia plastica per rimuovere il tessuto cutaneo necrotizzato, ma nel mio caso non è stato necessario - ha spiegato -. Certo, la ferita mi prudeva molto e il fastidio è durato diverse settimane, ma ho continuato la mia vita normale, lavorando senza problemi". Parlando della morte del 23enne di Lecce, invece, ha detto: "Non mi risulta che il morso (del ragno violino) sia letale. Né i colleghi che mi hanno visitato erano allarmati da questo punto di vista. Essere punti da un ragno violino non è un'esperienza piacevole, ma non la descriverei nemmeno come drammatica". Su quanto accaduto al ragazzo, la cui ferita si è infettata e ha portato a una sepsi, Menichetti ha avanzato una sua ipotesi: "Non vorrei sostituirmi ai colleghi che hanno visto il paziente, ma raccontata così sembrerebbe una fascite necrotizzante. Un'infezione rara, ma subdola e grave. Avviene ad esempio quando ci si ferisce con una piccola scheggia che penetra in profondità nella pelle". E ancora: "Se quella scheggia ospita un particolare batterio della famiglia degli streptococchi, battezzato appunto mangiacarne, può iniziare a creare una necrosi che si allarga in profondità. Se non curata, può portare a un'infezione grave, alla necessità di amputare l'arto o addirittura alla morte per sepsi".
