Russia: la Sco, blocco in espansione guidato da Pechino e Mosca/Scheda

Washington, 3 lug. (Adnkronos) - Nata nel 2001 come evoluzione dello Shanghai Five, istituito nel 1996, l'Organizzazione per la cooperazione di Shanghai era inizialmente un forum che riuniva i Paesi fondatori del gruppo 'originale' - Cina, Russia, Kazakistan, Kirghizistan e Tagikistan - più l'Uzbekistan. Nel tempo il blocco, che rappresenta circa il 40% della popolazione mondiale, ha aperto le porte a India e Pakistan (2017) e, lo scorso anno, all'Iran. E' atteso l'allargamento alla Bielorussia al summit di Astana. Così i Paesi membri diventeranno dieci. Afghanistan e Mongolia sono parte del gruppo come "osservatori", insieme alla Bielorussia di Alexander Lukashenko che dal 2022 è nel processo per l'adesione a pieno titolo al blocco. Ci sono inoltre 14 "partner di dialogo": Arabia Saudita, Azerbaigian, Armenia, Bahrein, Egitto, Emirati Arabi Uniti, Cambogia, Kuwait, Maldive, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Sri Lanka e Turchia. Alla fondazione gli obiettivi del blocco erano la lotta al terrorismo e la promozione della sicurezza ai confini. Ma negli anni l'organizzazione è 'cresciuta' nel nome dell'ambizione condivisa di Mosca e Pechino di contrastare l' "egemonia" Usa.
