Su Google Translate 110 nuove lingue, anche veneto e siciliano

Roma, 28 giu. (askanews) -Dal cantonese al berbero, con una piccola sorpresa per l'Italia. Google Translate, usando l'IA, ha ampliato la varietà di lingue supportate. Ne sono state introdotte 110 nuove, la più grande espansione di sempre, spiega il colosso tech, precisando che le nuove lingue rappresentano più di 614 milioni di parlanti, aprendo le traduzioni a circa l'8% della popolazione mondiale. Alcune sono lingue mondiali importanti, altre sono parlate da piccole comunità di indigeni. E per l'Italia ci sono i dialetti: il lombardo, il veneto, il friulano, il ligure e il siciliano. Circa un quarto delle nuove che possono essere tradotte proviene dall'Africa, come l'Afar, una lingua tonale parlata in Gibuti, Eritrea ed Etiopia. C'è anche il Manx, la lingua celtica dell'Isola di Man. Si è quasi estinta con la morte dell'ultimo madrelingua nel 1974. Ma grazie a un movimento di rinascita in tutta l'isola, oggi ci sono migliaia di parlanti. Con il progredire della tecnologia e la continua collaborazione con esperti linguisti e madrelingua - sostiene Google - nel tempo saranno supportate ancora più varietà linguistiche e convenzioni ortografiche.
