Trasporto merci, negli Usa arriva il camion a guida autonoma

Entro i prossimi nove mesi la società 'Aurora Innovation' prevede di lanciare fino a 20 camion a guida autonoma lungo la Interstate 45 tra Dallas e Houston, in Texas. I mezzi sono pensati per trasportare i carichi di partner come FedEx, Uber Freight e Werner. L'azienda punta a mettere sulla strada decine di migliaia di mezzi in futuro. Il mese scorso l'azienda ha ospitato una giornata dedicata agli investitori a Pittsburgh, dove ha illustrato i suoi piani. L'azienda punta ad espandersi in tutta la Sunbelt (l'area degli Stati Uniti che collega la costa atlantica a quella pacifica, comprendendo Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Colorado, Utah, Mississippi, Nevada, Nuovo Messico, Texas, Carolina del Nord, Carolina del Sud) entro il 2026. Le aziende produttrici di camion a guida autonoma dicono che aiuteranno a far fronte alla carenza di autisti di camion a livello nazionale, stimata dall'industria del trasporto su strada in circa 64.000 unità. Aurora e suoi concorrenti che producono sistemi simili prevedono di distribuire migliaia di camion a guida autonoma sulle autostrade pubbliche degli Stati Uniti nei prossimi tre o quattro anni, soprattutto negli Stati del sud.
