Tumori, Perrone (Aiom): "Contro cancro collo utero vaccinare tutti i giovani"

Barcellona, 14 set. (Adnkronos Salute) - "Il tumore della cervice uterina è paradigmatico prima di tutto per quello che riguarda l'epidemiologia e le cause. Il Papillomavirus è la causa assolutamente prevalente. Abbiamo la possibilità di vaccinare i giovani di entrambi i generi per prevenire il tumore, eliminando la causa". Così Francesco Perrone, presidente Aiom (Associazione italiana di oncologia medica), alla presentazione di uno studio sul trattamento immunoterapico con pembrolizumab, in combinazione con la chemioradioterapia concomitante, in occasione di Esmo 2024 che riunisce in questi giorni a Barcellona migliaia di oncologi da tutto il mondo. "Quello alla cervice uterina - sottolinea - è inoltre un tumore che si presta alla prevenzione secondaria anticipando la diagnosi attraverso il Pap test, che è uno dei 3 screening che sono anche all'interno dei Livelli essenziali assistenza (Lea), e quindi via via che non ha funzionato il primo step (prevenzione primaria) noi dobbiamo passare alla prevenzione secondaria e stare con gli occhi aperti per raggiungere il principale obiettivo: aumentare la probabilità di guarigione".
