Durata: 2 ore 20 LA TRAMA Due evasi fuggono e nella fuga rapiscono un bambino pensando di servirsene come ostaggio. Ma uno dei due è proprio una carogna e sta per uccidere il piccolo. Per difenderlo l'altro lo uccide. Poi prosegue la fuga non separandosi dal bimbo che intanto gli si è affezionato. Uno sceriffo (Eastwood) dà loro la caccia sperando di non prenderli. PERCHÈ VEDERLO Perchè Eastwood alla sua maniera (che è sempre grande cinema americano classico) racconta, sotto le spoglie del dramma rurale, una storia di innocenze perdute. Dell'evaso, del bambino e del Grande Paese intero che in quei giorni (ottobre del 1963) e in quei luoghi (il Texas) vedeva morire l'ultimo simbolo di innocenza (Kennedy).
