Una megattera intrappolata e salvata nel porto di Sydney dopo 22 ore

Sydney, 23 ago. (askanews) - Bloccata tra reti, cime e boe, poi dopo 22 ore di agonia la libertà. Una giovane megattera che era rimasta impigliata nel porto di Sydney la città più grande dell'Australia è riuscita a riprendere il mare. Giovedì i soccorritori di Sydney hanno ricevuto una chiamata che segnalava che la balena era rimasta impigliata e hanno fatto di tutto per salvarla utilizzando attrezzature specializzate per tenerla ferma mentre tagliavano via le corde e i detriti. Non è raro che una balena entri a nelle acque antistanti Sydney ma è molto raro che arrivi fino al porto. Per decenni, le megattere sono state cacciate fino a portarle quasi all'estinzione: nel 1965 si stima ne fossero rimasti nelle acque australiane solo 1.500 esemplari. Ma grazie al programma di protezione dei cetacei ora ci sono circa 40.000 esemplari
