Non c'è nulla di questi tempi che muove le coscienze come il denaro, specie quello che non c'è. Non c'è da sorprendersi dunque che sia stato davvero lo spettro di una raccolta fondi insufficiente ad aver alla fine convinto i Dem della necessità di mettere da parte il riottoso Joe Biden. Forse anche lui stesso si è persuaso al cospetto dell'esplicito ricatto di molti grandi donatori che hanno minacciato che non avrebbero tirato fuori un centesimo finché fosse stato candidato. Né c'è da meravigliarsi che, via Biden, i soldi abbiano ricominciato a fluire come una valanga incontrollabile, tanto che un consulente degli stessi donatori avrebbe consigliato di rallentare fino a quando le dinamiche della corsa non renderanno più chiaro dove tali fondi saranno più necessari.
