Washington, 1 ago. (Adnkronos) - Tre degli uomini accusati di aver pianificato gli attacchi dell'11 settembre 2001 contro gli Stati Uniti hanno stipulato un accordo pre-processuale. Lo riferisce il Dipartimento della Difesa americano. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin Attash e Mustafa Ahmed Adam al-Hawsawi sono detenuti da anni nella base della Marina statunitense di Guantanamo Bay, a Cuba, senza essere processati. I dettagli dell'accordo non sono stati ancora resi noti, ma i notiziari statunitensi affermano che gli uomini si dichiareranno colpevoli in cambio dell'impegno dell'accusa a non chiedere la pena di morte. Quasi 3.000 persone morirono negli attacchi che scatenarono la "Guerra al terrore" e le invasioni dell'Afghanistan e dell'Iraq a New York, in Virginia e in Pennsylvania.
