Vaccini, Signorelli (Nitag): "Anziani più longevi e in buona salute se immunizzati"

Roma, 16 ott. (Adnkronos Salute) - "Per garantire una vita più lunga, ma soprattutto una vita in buona salute, dobbiamo agire su diversi ambiti, quelli naturalmente comportamentali e quelli alimentari, con un aiuto che può venire dalle vaccinazioni. E oggi sono 4, e potrebbero diventare 5, le vaccinazioni che vengono offerte agli anziani per migliorare il loro stato di salute, evitare malattie, ricoveri, e quindi noi auspichiamo che le coperture ancora basse per molte di queste vaccinazioni possano salire". Così all'Adnkronos Salute Carlo Signorelli, professore ordinario di Igiene all'Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele di Milano e presidente del Nitag, National immunization technical advisory group, che è la Commissione nazionale vaccini. Le "vaccinazioni offerte agli anziani e ai soggetti fragili, cioè coloro che sono portatori, anche se non in età avanzata, di malattie croniche, sono per l'influenza, il Covid-19, l'Herspe zoster e l'antipneumococco - ricorda Signorelli - a cui potrebbe aggiungersi anche la vaccinazione contro il virus respiratorio sinciziale. Ecco, di queste malattie solo l'influenza raggiunge dei livelli decenti di copertura, con una percentuale superiore al 50%". Per "tutti gli altri bisogna lavorare, convincendo la popolazione, coinvolgendo i medici di famiglia, gli ospedali e le farmacie che possono dare una mano per aumentare queste coperture che portano sicuramente a un miglioramento medio della salute della popolazione anziana", conclude.
