Australia, protesta pro-democrazia durante visita premier cinese Li

Centinaia di manifestanti filo-cinesi, attivisti per i diritti umani e sostenitori della democrazia si sono riuniti fuori dal Parlamento australiano, a Canberra, mentre il premier cinese Li Qiang incontrava il primo ministro australiano Anthony Albanese. I sostenitori pro-Cina e i manifestanti anti-Cina portavano bandiere e striscioni. Alcuni manifestanti delle opposte fazioni sono venuti a contatto, nonostante l'area fosse presidiata dalle forze dell'ordine. I due leader si sono incontrati per discutere questioni spinose, tra cui le persistenti barriere commerciali, il conflitto tra i loro eserciti in acque internazionali e il desiderio della Cina di investire in minerali critici (rame, litio, nichel, cobalto e terre rare) alla base di tante tecnologie pulite che favoriscono la transizione ecologica. Le relazioni bilaterali sono migliorate notevolmente da quando il Partito laburista di centrosinistra di Albanese è stato eletto nel 2022 dopo nove anni di governo conservatore in Australia. La visita di Li in Australia è la prima di un premier cinese nel Paese in sette anni.
