Caldo torrido in Ue, nel 2023 "disastro" con oltre 47mila morti: uno su 4 in Italia

Roma, 12 ago. (Adnkronos Salute) - Lo scorso anno il caldo torrido ha causato in Europa il decesso di oltre 47mila persone (47.690). Il 2023 è stato l'anno più caldo mai registrato e il secondo più caldo in Europa. Lo ha stabilito uno studio coordinato dall'Instituto de Salud Global de Barcelona pubblicato su 'Nature Medicine'. Sul totale dei decessi circa 1 su 4 (12.743) sono stati certificati in Italia che è il paese con i numeri più alti; poi c'è la Spagna (8.352) e Germania (6.376). Il tasso di mortalità più alto è della Grecia con 393 decessi per milione, seguita dalla Bulgaria (229) e dall'Italia con 209 decessi per milione. "Si tratta di un disastro su vasta scala, ma il bilancio delle vittime legate al caldo è comunque inferiore a quello del 2022 - osservano i ricercatori - quando in Europa morirono più di 61.000 persone, secondo la stessa analisi del Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal)". I ricercatori hanno anche scoperto che nel 2023 "la mortalità legata al caldo sarebbe stata superiore dell'80% senza l'introduzione negli ultimi due decenni di misure per aiutare le persone ad adattarsi".
