Così l'Occidente rinnega la sua libertà di parola

Ieri Elon Musk ha polemizzato con il governo australiano (laburista) sostenendo che la sinistra ama la censura. Sempre ieri Tul si Gabbard, che è uscita dal Partito Democratico, ha twittato: «Sono orgogliosa di sostenere il presidente Trump (...) perché credo che porrà fine alla censura della libertà di parola in America». La libertà è ormai una questione globale, all'ordine del giorno nelle democrazie occidentali, compresa la Ue. Un tempo era un valore indiscusso, oggi è diventato un problema. Un serio analista come il professor Luigi Curini ha osservato: «La sensazione è che stiamo vivendo un vero e proprio cambiamento di fase nei confronti di internet e dei social media, e attraverso questo, della nozione di libertà di parola con cui siamo cresciuti nel mondo Occidentale. Partita da lontano, in particolare dalla vittoria della Brexit nel 2015 e di quella di Trump l'anno dopo, la marea si era fermata dopo la vittoria di Biden, in cui la Rete era tornata “luogo di partecipazione e democrazia”, come era stata durante le Primavere arabe. Ma i risultati elettorali negli anni successivi, e il cambio di proprietà del fu-Twitter, ha fatto riemergere le preoccupazioni di una certa area politica». (...)
