Gerusalemme, 12 apr. (askanews) - Migliaia di ebrei ultraortodossi manifestano a Gerusalemme contro l'arruolamento obbligatorio nell'esercito. A fine marzo la Corte suprema, dopo anni di rinvii si è pronunciato sullo stop all'esenzione degli ebrei ultraortodossi dal servizio militare in Israele, dove la leva è obbligatoria. Gli ultraortodossi però per anni sono riusciti a evitare la coscrizione dedicando il loro tempo allo studio dei testi sacri dell'ebraismo. L'esenzione fu decisa da Ben-Gurion all'atto della creazione dello Stato di Israele nel 1948, inizialmente per 400 giovani, ma oggi riguarda 66.000 uomini tra i 18 e i 26 anni."Niente può farci cambiare idea, non andremo nell'esercito, anche se dovessimo morire", ha detto Yitzchak, uno studente di 24 anni.
