Finlandia, stoccaggio di armi in Norvegia: verso la guerra in Mar Baltico

La Finlandia si prepara in caso di crisi militare nel Mar Baltico. Gli sviluppi della guerra in Ucraina preoccupano il Paese scandinavo che quindi ha deciso di tutelarsi per salvaguardare i suoi confini. Helsinki ha annunciato che ha avviato un'operazione per immagazzinare armi, munizioni e attrezzature militari in Norvegia. A dare l'annuncio è stato il vice capo di stato maggiore delle Forze armate finlandesi, Mikko Heiskanen, ai media locali. Non è poi stato escluso che la Finlandia possa decidere di replicare quanto fatto in Norvegia anche con altri Paesi della Nato: "Quando eravamo un paese militarmente non allineato, non prendevamo nemmeno in considerazione questo tipo di operazioni, ma ora che apparteniamo a una difesa comune alleata abbiamo l'opportunità di sfruttare la sua profondità logistica e operativa". Heiskanen ha poi aperto uno spiraglio per cui la Finlandia potrebbe decidere di ospitare parte dell'arsenale americano. Washington sta valutando di realizzare un grande deposito di armi ed equipaggiamento militare nella regione baltica. Secondo il vice capo difficilmente il suo Paese potrebbe essere quello prescelto, ma sono aperti all'ipotesi. Nel caso in cui il parlamento dia il benestare, gli Usa potranno utilizzare 15 basi finlandesi; a stabilirlo l'accordo bilaterale concluso alla fine dell'anno scorso.
