Georgia: Usa, 'Tbilisi non si schieri con Mosca contro l'Occidente'

Washington, 14 mag. (Adnkronos) - Il governo degli Stati Uniti ha avvertito la Georgia di non diventare un avversario dell'Occidente schierandosi con Mosca, dopo che il parlamento ha sfidato le proteste di piazza per approvare una legge “ispirata dal Cremlino”. Il sottosegretario di Stato americano Jim O'Brien ha espresso il suo timore che l'approvazione della legge sulle 'influenze straniere' - l'equivalente dei provvedimenti putiniani sugli agenti stranieri - possa rappresentare un altro "punto di svolta" nella travagliata storia dell'ex stato sovietico. In una conferenza stampa a Tbilisi, O'Brien ha fatto intendere che i finanziamenti statunitensi potrebbero presto essere ritirati. Miliardi di dollari sono stati spesi dagli Stati Uniti per ricostruire la Georgia dopo la caduta dell'Unione Sovietica e altre centinaia di milioni sono stati pianificati per l'economia e l'esercito del paese. "Tutto ciò deve essere rivisto se ora siamo considerati un avversario e non un partner", ha affermato il funzionario americano.
