Harris: a Gaza cessate il fuoco e autodeterminazione palestinesi

Chicago, 23 ago. (askanews) - Kamala Harris si impegna a ottenere un cessate il fuoco a Gaza. "È il momento di ottenere un accordo sugli ostaggi e un cessate il fuoco", ha dichiarato la candidata democratica alla Casa Bianca davanti ai suoi sostenitori presenti alla Convention nazionale del partito di Chicago. "Io e il presidente Biden stiamo lavorando 24 ore su 24 perché è il momento di trovare un accordo sugli ostaggi e un accordo per il cessate il fuoco", ha detto. "L'entità delle sofferenze è straziante - ha aggiunto - Io e il presidente Biden stiamo lavorando per porre fine a questa guerra in modo che Israele sia al sicuro, gli ostaggi siano rilasciati, le sofferenze a Gaza finiscano e il popolo palestinese possa realizzare il suo diritto alla dignità, alla sicurezza, alla libertà e all'autodeterminazione." La guerra a Gaza e il supporto degli Usa al governo Netanyahustanno creando molte polemiche nell'ala a sinistra del partito democratico. Alla terza serata della Convention ha parlato la madre di uno degli ostaggi israeliani, ma nella serata conclusiva non è stato consentito il discorso di un'attivista palestinese. Harris segue una linea delicata in questo scorcio di campagna elettorale per non alienarsi l'elettorato centrista e la comunità israeliana negli Stati Uniti.
