IA, Kimball (Aws): "Eccesso di regolamentazione fa fuggire gli sviluppatori da Ue"

Cernobbio, 15 ott. (Adnkronos) - Un'eccessiva regolamentazione sull'intelligenza artificiale “non farà altro che spingere gli sviluppatori verso Paesi che abilitano la loro creatività”. Così Bob Kimball, Chief Regulatory Officer di Aws, parlando alla conferenza Comolake a Cernobbio. Il tema è impellente, spiega, perché quei Paesi che riusciranno a “regolamentare correttamente” saranno “i vincitori di questa ondata tecnologica”. Il dirigente Aws ricorda che le imprese europee hanno aumentato l'uso dell'IA del 30% solo nell'ultimo anno. La tecnologia “potrebbe generare 600 miliardi di euro entro il 2030” a patto che la regolamentazione sia “efficace e non paralizzante”, spiega. “Vediamo già le aziende votare con i piedi per quanto riguarda il luogo in cui stabilire la propria sede e dove lanciare i propri modelli. Ho parlato con diverse realtà che si rifiutano di addestrare i loro modelli in Ue: questo è un problema di oggi”, avverte Kimball. Secondo Kimball, una regolamentazione efficace “è multistakeholder e si basa su una profonda conoscenza tecnologica”. Serve “abbracciare e non sostituire” le leggi e i regolamenti che già si applicano all'IA. Un approccio all'IA basato sul rischio è “fondamentale”. C'è “bisogno di definizioni e standard coerenti”, in modo da poterli rendere interoperabili a livello globale. E serve “distinguere tra chi distribuisce e chi sviluppa, perché hanno responsabilità molto diverse”.
