"Buonasera everyone, my name is Jannik". Alexander Zverev di nuovo re di Roma dopo la sua vittoria di sette anni fa, nel 2017 scherza sul grande assente, Jannik Sinner, del quale ha preso alla grande il posto in campo, battendo Nicolas Jarry 6/4-7/5 ma anche nel cuore dei tifosi:"Quando gioco qui mi sento italiano". Scherza, ma si era emozionato un bel pò inginocchiandosi grato sulla terra battuta per il primo titolo 1000 conquistato dopo il terribile infortunio alla caviglia di due anni fa al Roland Garros. quando al quarto match point ha sconfitto la sorpresa di questo torneo, il cileno Nicolas Jarry. È stata una battaglia di servizi che viaggiavano oltre i 200 chilometri orari (Zverev ha messo dentro il 79% di prime palle Jarry il 68%) decisa al primo set con un break sul 5-4 e al secondo sul 6-5 per il tedesco. Zverev oggi ha vinto il suo sesto Masters 1000, il primo da Cincinnati 2021.
