Indo-Pacifico: Usa, 'assieme a Italia per mantenere pace nell'area'

Washington, 21 mag. (Adnkronos) - "Gli Stati Uniti e l'Italia hanno discusso le priorità comuni nella regione per promuovere un Indo-Pacifico libero e aperto, compreso il mantenimento della pace e della stabilità nel Mar Cinese Meridionale e nello Stretto di Taiwan, esortando la Cina a cessare le spedizioni di beni a duplice uso verso la Russia, da utilizzare nella guerra contro l'Ucraina". Lo comunica l'ufficio del portavoce del Dipartimento di Stato Usa, parlando dell'incontro di oggi a Washington fra il vice segretario di Stato Kurt Campbell e il segretario generale del Ministero degli Affari esteri italiano Riccardo Guariglia, che hanno co-presieduto il dialogo sull'Indo-Pacifico. La delegazione statunitense comprendeva alti funzionari governativi del Dipartimento di Stato, del Consiglio di Sicurezza Nazionale e del Dipartimento della Difesa. "Abbiamo discusso degli sforzi congiunti per risolvere la crisi in peggioramento in Birmania, della cooperazione marittima e di sicurezza nell'Indo-Pacifico, delle iniziative regionali sull'energia pulita e cambiamento climatico - prosegue la nota - Il vice segretario Campbell e il segretario generale Guariglia hanno inoltre colto l'occasione per discutere della crisi in Israele e Gaza, in Ucraina, ritenendo la Russia responsabile della guerra e della sicurezza in Nord Africa, nonché di altre priorità della presidenza italiana del G7".
