La Fed lascia i tassi invariati, ai massimi da 23 anni

Roma, 2 mag. (askanews) - La Fed ha deciso di lasciare invariati i tassi d'interesse, ai massimi da 23 anni, smentito però un ulteriore rialzo. Il presidente Jerome Powell ha affermato che l'inflazione resta troppo alta per pensare a un abbassamento del tasso di prestito di riferimento che attualmente è al 5,25-5,50%. Negli ultimi mesi c'è stata una "mancanza di progressi verso l'obiettivo del 2%", ha affermato la Federal Reserve nel comunicato finale: "Non ci aspettiamo che sia appropriato ridurre i tassi fino a quando non avremo acquisito maggiore fiducia che l'inflazione si stia muovendo in modo sostenibile verso il 2%. Finora, quest'anno, i dati non ci hanno dato questa maggiore fiducia".
