La svolta la fanno gli elettori, come sempre, ma la storia dei movimenti politici è fatta di episodi premonitori, decisioni improvvise. Ieri il Rassemblement National di Marine Le Pen ha annunciato che il partito tedesco di Alternative für Deutschland non farà più parte del gruppo europeo di Identità e democrazia. La decisione, confermata dal presidente di Rn, Jordan Bardella, è stata presa in pieno accordo con la Lega di Matteo Salvini. A due settimane dal voto europeo, la rottura è un fatto che ha un rilevante peso politico, perché allarga il perimetro della destra possibile, influisce sulla strategia di gioco di tutti i partiti (in particolare del Partito popolare), apre a nuovi schemi per la maggioranza futura che governerà l'Unione europea.
