“Non debellata la piaga dei morti del lavoro”: le parole di Fontana sulla Tragedia Marcinelle

L'8 agosto è "una data impressa nella memoria storica del nostro Paese. In quel giorno infausto di 68 anni fa, 262 minatori morirono nella miniera di carbone di Marcinelle, in Belgio, a causa di un terribile incendio. Centotrentasei erano nostri connazionali. Erano andati a lavorare nelle miniere della Vallonia per guadagnarsi da vivere e assicurare un futuro migliore alle proprie famiglie, in gran parte rimaste in Italia". Lo ha detto il presidente della Camera, Lorenzo Fontana, in Aula, in occasione della commemorazione dell'anniversario della tragedia di Marcinelle dell'8 agosto 1956. "Ricordando il valore fondamentale che la nostra Repubblica riconosce al lavoro, la memoria indelebile di quell'immane tragedia - ha proseguito la terza carica dello Stato - deve richiamare l'attenzione delle istituzioni nazionali ed europee sull'importanza di avere un efficace sistema di tutela della sicurezza nei luoghi di lavoro.
