L'uragano Beryl arriva in Texas, emessa allerta per alcune zone

Roma, 8 lug. (askanews) - Piogge abbondanti e venti forti a Houston, in Texas, per l'arrivo dell'uragano Beryl. Alcuni residenti sono stati evacuati a causa di allagamenti e interruzioni di corrente. Il Centro nazionale uragani degli Stati Uniti (NHC) ha dichiarato che Beryl ha colpito la città di Matagorda con una velocità del vento di 80 miglia (130 chilometri) all'ora. L'NHC, nel suo ultimo bollettino, avvisa che "si stanno verificando ondate di tempesta e forti venti che mettono a rischio la vita, con la previsione di considerevoli inondazioni improvvise e urbane". Il servizio meteorologico nazionale ha emesso un'allerta tornado per alcune zone del Texas, tra cui Houston, dove vivono 2,3 milioni di persone. "Dobbiamo prendere Beryl molto, molto seriamente. Il nostro peggior nemico è la compiacenza", ha dichiarato il sindaco di Houston John Whitmire.
