Texas, a Houston si contano i danni dopo il passaggio di Beryl

Roma, 9 lug. (askanews) - Auto sommerse in strade allagate, alberi caduti, cartelli divelti: i residenti di Houston valutano i danni dopo che l'uragano Beryl ha colpito il Texas con forti piogge e potenti venti. "Siamo solo all'inizio di luglio e per noi una tempesta di questa portata è molto rara", dicono alcuni abitanti. Beryl ha toccato terra nello stato meridionale degli Stati Uniti l'8 luglio, uccidendo almeno due persone e lasciando senza energia elettrica milioni di persone. Il Centro nazionale uragani degli Stati Uniti (NHC) ha dichiarato che ha colpito la città di Matagorda come uragano di categoria 1, per poi essere declassato a tempesta tropicale nelle ore successive all'impatto. I danni però sono stati ingenti. Due morti per la caduta di alberi e oltre 2,5 milioni sono rimasti senza elettricità.
