Onu "preoccupata" per crescente rischio escalation in Medio Oriente

Roma, 5 ago. (askanews) - L'Alto Commissario delle Nazioni Unite per i diritti umani Volker Turk "è profondamente preoccupato per il crescente rischio di un conflitto più ampio in Medio Oriente", afferma il portavoce dell'OHCHR Jeremy Laurence. Turk - aggiunge - ha chiesto "di agire urgentemente per allentare la tensione". "Tutto, e questo significa proprio tutto, deve essere fatto per evitare che questa situazione sprofondi ulteriormente in un abisso che avrà solo conseguenze ancora più terribili per i civili", dice Laurence a Ginevra. "Il capo delle Nazioni Unite per i diritti umani, Volker Turk, ha dichiarato oggi di essere profondamente preoccupato per il crescente rischio di un conflitto più ampio in Medio Oriente e ha chiesto a tutte le parti, insieme agli Stati influenti, di agire urgentemente per una de-escalation in quella che è diventata una situazione molto precaria", ha spiegato il portavoce Jeremy Laurenxe. "I diritti umani, prima di tutto la protezione dei civili, devono essere la massima priorità" , ha aggiunto. "Già, negli ultimi dieci mesi, i civili, soprattutto donne e bambini, hanno patito insopportabili dolori e sofferenze a causa delle bombe e delle armi. Tutto, e questo significa tutto, deve essere fatto per evitare che questa situazione peggiori ulteriormente verso un abisso che avrà solo conseguenze ancora più terribili per i civili", ha concluso.
