Ricerca, Conte (UniPd): "Per idee innovative dei giovani difficile trovare i fondi"

Roma, 17 ott. (Adnkronos Salute) - “Tutti siamo convinti dell'importanza della ricerca e dell'innovazione, ma siamo meno consapevoli di quanto sia difficile per un giovane iniziare un percorso di ricerca. È molto più facile per una persona senior ottenere finanziamenti per la ricerca anche se spesso i giovani hanno idee più innovative e dirompenti. Il programma di Gilead consente a molti giovani di iniziare una carriera scientifica che molto spesso si traduce in risultati di alto livello”. Sono le parole di Pierfranco Conte, professore di oncologia dell'università di Padova in occasione della premiazione, oggi a Milano, dei vincitori della 13esima edizione di Fellowship Program e Community Award Program, i 2 Bandi di concorso promossi da Gilead Sciences per finanziare la realizzazione di progetti di ricerca e di natura socio-assistenziale nelle aree delle malattie infettive, oncologiche e ematologiche. “I progetti premiati, nel settore dell'oncologia - spiega Conte - sono molto innovativi e mirano a caratterizzare dal punto di vista biologico i tumori umani per predire con la maggior precisione possibile la loro evoluzione e la loro responsività alle terapie disponibili. Ci sono poi progetti che vogliono migliorare la qualità della vita dei pazienti oncologici per passare dalla guarigione al benessere”.
